Moreover, Guildeluec's love for Eliduc's was based on humility. It was humility that allowed her to gracefully and joyfully abdicate her place as Eliduc's wife for the sake of Guilliadon.
Marie described the interrelation between romantic love and marriage’s vows. She sympathized with the cuckolded husband, rather than the lover. She proclaimed that the woman, not the man, was guilty of infidelity because something held Eliduc back from beginning the kind of love affairs with Guilliadon – Marie’s attitude to marriage was sacred. Eliduc’s relations with the young woman were physically pure: “their love consisted entirely of courting and talking, and exchanging fair gifts when they were together”.
In conclusion, I would like to point out that such kind of literary creation about medieval love, written in the ancient times by a talented woman, glorifying true and pure love makes me believe in a devoted women’s love, on the one hand, and a lustful, sinful men’s nature, on the other. Surely, only love could arouse a range of feelings and emotions which made the plot thrilling and narrative intriguing.
